Speculative Letters

Another way of applying for jobs is by sending out ‘speculative’ letters. This is when you send a letter to a company on the off chance that they have a position available or becoming available shortly.

If a company does not have anything currently available, they may also keep your details on file for future reference.

If you are in Year 11 and are thinking about starting an Apprenticeship when you leave school, it might be a good idea to send some speculative letters out around February/March/April time and see if you hear back from any companies about job opportunities.

Make sure you include a copy of your C.V when sending out speculative letters as this will allow the employer to read about your education and work history.

Some companies may want potential candidates to complete an application form as well as receiving a C.V. and letter.
