If You Have Secured A Job
You have been offered a job – well done!
Here are some questions that you might like to ask before you accept:
- What will the salary be?
- What are your hours of work?
- How many holidays will you get?
- What is the dress code?
- Do you need to bring any of your own equipment?
- How will your salary be paid? (I.e. monthly/ weekly? If you haven’t got a bank account you may need to open one…)
- Will there be a probationary period?
- Will there be any training?
Okay so you’ve accepted the job. Here are some tips to help combat those first day nerves…
- Know what time you are expected, where to go and who to report to.
- Find out what you should wear – if you are not certain it is usually better to be too smart than too casual.
- When you are meeting a lot of people it can be difficult to remember all their names – this will take some time but it may be best to write down the names of important people.
- Ask about your induction.
- Make sure that you have taken any information that you have been asked for i.e. National Insurance number and bank account details.
- It might be worth finding out when your first salary will be paid.
- Be pleasant to everyone and try not to get involved in gossip and conflict – you might not know who you are talking to!
