Entry to Employment - e2e

Moving Forward

Want to get on in life? There are thousands of employers out there who need someone just like you – and we can help you get there.

Why should you?

e2e is a dynamic new programme that will support you in building your confidence, help you with basic and key skills, and give you activities and training aimed at helping you to find work – when you’re ready.

And what’s more, you could even get paid.

If you are aged 16-18, and not currently involved in school, college, employment or training, we can help.

And if you are facing issues in your life which you think might hold you back, we can definitely help you to move forward onto the right path.

You are important to us.

How much does it all cost?

The e2e programme does not cost you or your family anything. In fact, if you meet certain guidelines you could get paid an Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA).

What is the EMA?

EMA is a weekly payment of £10, £20 or £30 a week depending on your household income. The money is intended to help with the day-to-day costs when you start on the e2e programme – such as travel, books and equipment for your course. It is paid directly into your bank account.

If you are entitled, you’ll receive your EMA payment every week of your course as long as you turn up when you’re supposed to and show commitment to your course.

So, not only could you get more cash in your pocket right now, but you’re also going to earn yourself a brighter future with better job prospects when you’ve finished your studies.

Who is entitled to Education Maintenance Allowance?

Around half of all 16-year-olds studying in England should be able to get EMA. See if you fit the bill below:

  • Your household income is up to £30,000 per year (you will need to check this with your parent or carer)
  • Your are 16 or 17 years old
  • You are a UK national born here or have UK citizenship or a passport or:

    • have indefinite leave to remain, indefinite leave to enter, or refugee status or
    • come from a European Union or European Economic Area country and have lived in the UK for at least three years and satisfy the home student criteria (check out www.homeoffice.gov.uk for more information) or
    • have temporary UK protection

Remember!

EMA will not affect any other benefits your family might get. It is paid on top of any other support provided by the Government, or any other earnings from your part-time job.

What happens if I join?

You will be given a programme of activities and learning which has been designed especially for you. It will include things like communication skills and key skills, as well as events such as abseiling or recording your own music in a studio.

Once you feel ready, you’ll be offered a work placement in a job that interests you – and this could lead to full-time, fully-paid employment.
