Total People is a Centre of Vocational Excellence
Sam Astbury-Webb has been working at Jacobs-Babtie in Telford for six months. Her duties mainly revolve around the reception area of the company; answering telephones, ordering cars, organising train tickets and flights, photocopying and filing.
“I really enjoy my work.” Says Sam. “I have to be extremely organised.”
Sam first became involved with Total People and e2e when she moved to Telford from Crewe. She began looking for work and visited her local Connexions centre who recommended Total People Ltd. Sam went along to the centre, got an interview with Jacobs Babtie, was offered the position and began her placement.
Sam receives regular support from her Total People Training Adviser, and attends the centre on a Tuesday and Thursday to complete her CLAIT qualification.
“My adviser regularly comes into work to check on my progress.” Says Sam. “It’s really good because he gives me loads of support and advice. We can talk about anything and it really feels like there’s always someone on your side.”
Things are going to get even more exciting for Sam – she is starting an NVQ in Business Administration in May and will also be fully employed by Jacobs Babtie.
Sam comments; “I’d definitely recommend this path to others – e2e has changed my life.”
