Entry Requirements 

You don’t need academic qualifications to start working in a CIPD role but some employers will want you to have a good standard of  education, such as GCSEs, including English and maths. 

Length of the course 

24 months plus three months for the End Point Assessment

Progression 

After completing your apprenticeship, you’ll be able to progress onto: 

  • Undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in HR Management or business-related areas 
  • CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management 
  • Chartered membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) 
Who is suitable for this?

Typically, the individual works alongside colleagues who specialise in Human Resources and report to a Senior L&D Manager, Head of Department or Director. In larger organisations, they may be one of a team supporting the business and may have responsibility for managing people and a budget 

Knowledge – Capable of practical, theoretical or technological knowledge and understanding of the Level 5 Apprenticeship standard – L&D Consultant/Partner. The ability to use first-hand experience or observations of work to find ways forward in broadly defined, complex contexts. Capacity to analyse, interpret and evaluate relevant information, concepts and ideas. They show awareness of the nature and scope of the area of study or work. They are able to understand different perspectives, approaches or schools of thought and the reasoning behind them.

Skills – They show an ability to determine, adapt and use appropriate methods, cognitive and practical skills to complete work activities, inform actions and address broadly defined, complex problems. They have the potential to use relevant research or development to inform actions. They are capable of evaluating actions, methods and results.

Autonomy and Accountability – Level 5 apprentices take full responsibility for planning and developing courses of action including, where relevant, responsibility for the work of others and allocation of resources. They exercise responsibility, autonomy and judgement within broad parameters. They are accountable for the analysis and diagnosis, design, planning, execution and evaluation

18 months approximately 

Who is suitable for this?

The L&D Practitioner role supports the L&D function to contribute to, and influence, improved performance in the workplace at an individual, team and organisation level.  Typically, the role will work alongside colleagues who specialise in Human Resources, often supported by an L&D Administrator and reporting to an L&D Business Partner / Consultant / Manager. L&D Practitioners often work with Subject Matter Experts in different parts of the business.
