How long will it take?

The time taken to complete your qualifi cation depends upon you and how quickly you can prove your competence. However it normally takes between 12 – 24 months to complete depending on the level undertaken.

The Technical Certifi cate can be delivered at a college or on an individual basis by Total People.

The other element of your Apprenticeship, Key Skills, takes around 6 months to complete, but again is dependent on you!

Completing your Apprenticeship

Your IT Apprenticeships is made up from 4 core elements:

  • NVQ
  • Employment Rights & Responsibilities (ERR)
  • Key Skills – Application of Number – Communication Technical Certificate

Your NVQ portfolio may be paper based or electronic and contains work-based tasks and evidence.

The Advanced Apprenticeship contains a Technical Certificate element in addition to NVQ Level 3.

Key Skills are similar to Maths and English GCSEs however; learning is focussed around IT. For example, you may investigate what proportion of your time is spent on different tasks.

Further Progression

Being qualified will open many doors to you. You will be able to show your employer that, along with being qualified, you have also shown commitment, dedication and professionalism. This could lead to promotion, higher rates of pay, and even managerial opportunities.

Many apprentices decide to progress their education through professional qualifications like ONCs, HNCs, and degrees as well as other vocational routes such as Customer Service, Administration, Accounts, and Management.
