Supported Internship Learners Take a World of Words Walk!

Spring might be breezing through our open windows but a few short months ago Christmas saw a brilliant opportunity for Chester’s supported Internship learners to take a trip into the city to embed and contextualise the work they had been doing over the autumn term on writing for a purpose/an audience, and language and layout techniques.

The shops and markets provided excellent examples of how business owners use words and language to tempt shoppers to buy their products.

Total People Functional Skills Tutor, Lisa Oliver, explains more;

"The morning was a great success and was enjoyed by all. The learners were able to see at first hand as we walked around the markets, all the different ways that English is used to persuade, inform and describe. We rounded it off with coffees, cakes and toast at one of our favourite local cafés, Marmalade, where one of our Supported Interns is doing her work placement."

Sounds like the perfect end to a perfect morning. Well done everyone at Chester Total People!
