Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship

Richard Warburton

Richard completed his Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship with Total People

Richard Warburton has been working as a Joiner for award winning construction firm CB Homes for the last three years.

We specialise in luxury homes. I do all the woodwork in the house. That includes the doors, skirting, architraves and stairs,” says Richard

Richard completed his GCSEs and A-Levels at Helsby High School. One of his A-Levels was woodwork. He really enjoyed it, and for him, getting a trade was more important than going to university. So Richard visited Connexions, got an interview and got the job.

I did day release at college, which I really enjoyed. I learned a lot in the classroom, and it’s great to come back to the site and actually do the work I’d been learning about.

Richard was supported by his Training Adviser, “I’m fully supported by my Total People Training Adviser. He visits me every eight weeks, he sets me targets and is flexible and really helpful. He’s only ever a phone call away. I plan to stay with CB Homes. People will always need Joiners, and maybe in the future I’ll have my own business. The best thing about work-based training is that it gives you so many options.”

Richard is now a fully qualified Joiner, having completed both his NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery with the support of Total People.
