What is Prospects Plus?
Prospects Plus provides, in partnership with schools and other agencies, long term work experience placements with training for year 10 and 11 pupils. Prospects Plus hopes to help young people gain relevant knowledge of the requirements of their chosen vocational area and increase their employability skills so that they can smoothly progress into employment, Apprenticeships or further education.
About Prospects Plus at Total People
The Prospects Plus team at Total People Ltd are organised into geographical areas, giving you access to advisers with local knowledge that can be used to support you and your young people.
Work experience placements are selected to meet the individual needs of each young person and are supported through a wide range of approaches including workshops and one-to-one training sessions, which may lead to nationally recognised qualifications.
Young people are supported by regular reviews and monitoring in order to keep them informed and motivated.
The Programme
Prospects Plus provides a comprehensive range of training services to meet the needs of the individual:
- Accessible to both year 10 and 11 students
- Accessible to sixth forms
- Provision lasts throughout the academic year
- Placement can be one to four days per week
- Advice and support available to the young person, the referring agency and the employer
- Detailed interviews with the young person to devise an individual programme before training/placement commences
- Detailed initial assessment of each young person
- Health and Safety training is given to all students prior to placement, including information relevant to the chosen occupational area
- Comprehensive inductions carried out with the young person prior to starting the placement
- Training to meet nationally recognised standards and qualifications as required
- Regular monitoring and review of the training programme in order to ensure success
- Access to short courses to enhance the training programme e.g.First Aid, Basic Food Hygiene and Manual Handling.
The Service
The Prospects Plus provision includes:
- Initial interview and individual tailored programme including vocational advice
- Short course training as required
- Health and Safety approved placement
- Personal Protective Equipment as necessary
- Access to nationally recognised vocational qualifications
- Regular monitoring and reviews
