Are you aged 16-18 and not currently on any full time education or training programme but want to get some qualifications and work experience? If you are then the Pathways Programme could be for you.
Pathways is a pre-Apprenticeship programme which combines work experience with off-the-job training. If you are looking for your first step into a vocational career, Pathways is a fantastic way of enabling you to do so.
Currently Total People offers a Pathways programme in the following sectors:
- Business & Administration
- Motor Vehicle
- Bricklaying
- Engineering
- Retail
- Carpentry and Joinery
- I.T
- Childcare
- Hairdressing
The programme requires you to attend a work experience placement for 2 days every week in order to gain the valuable skills and experience needed in the industry.
"Pathways is a great way for young people to kick start their careers and to get a taste of what an Apprenticeship is like."
Programme Manager Gaynor Holland
You will also attend one of training centres for a further 2 days per week. We have centres in Crewe, Burslem (Stoke-on-Trent), Macclesfield and Telford so you would come to the one closest to where you live. During these 2 days you will work towards an NVQ Level 1 in your chosen area as well as gaining Functional Skills qualifications and Employability Awards.
The programme has been running for over 12 months and has been very successful with a lot of individuals going on to start an Apprenticeship.
Programme Manager Gaynor Holland says, "We have worked with the local Connexions offices promoting all of the various Pathways programmes throughout the different areas and the response has been fantastic. Pathways is a great way for young people to kick start their careers and to get a taste of what an Apprenticeship is like."
