After gaining a very credible 11 GCSEs, Callum decided to stay on at Sixth Form where he studied A-Levels in Business Studies, Accountancy and P.E. However, he noticed a big difference in the workload and doubted whether this was the right route for him. “I sat down with a careers adviser and explained that I was interested in following a financial route but I did not want to throw myself into a huge amount of debt by going to University.”

Callum was introduced to the opportunity of Apprenticeships and liked what he heard.

“It offered me everything I was looking for; fully funded training where I would study towards my AAT qualification, being able to gain hands on experience in a real business and a regular salary”.

Callum is responsible for analysing figures against budgets and presents his findings to relevant teams. He deals with a wide range of colleagues including service managers and believes the Apprenticeship opportunity has been a fantastic way for him to develop.

“My confidence grew quickly; it felt like a real compliment to be trusted to handle tasks independently and I learnt a lot in a short space of time.”
