Lynne Connell is one of the growing number of people taking part in the Government’s Train to Gain initiative – a programme aimed at helping learners of any age achieve vocational qualifications.
Lynne works as a Administrative Assistant at a Children’s Centre in Cheshire. No stranger to training, Lynne has already achieved her ECDL qualification, an NVQ in Customer Care, RSA Level 1, 2 and 3 and CLAIT.
She has now completed an NVQ in Business Administration, with the support of Total People. “It’s good to be learning again,” says Lynne. “I feel as though my brain has been ‘switched back on’! It’s good to challenge yourself”.
Lynne was initially reluctant to take part in the programme. “I thought it was going to be a lot of hard work,” she says. “But when I met with my Total People Training Adviser I was reassured, and in fact the training has been very straight forward. It has made me think more about what I do, made me follow proper channels and made me more conscious and efficient”.
Lynne completed her qualification within six months. “I’d highly recommend the NVQ programme and Total People. Communicating with my Adviser was easy and whilst I studied at my own pace, it helped to know that there was always someone there to offer support and guidance. The time-scales were realistic and the qualification looks good on my CV! It’s been a very rewarding experience and I’ll definitely look into the possibility of further training”.
