About the apprenticeship
Carry out trade duties for the property services team to THT specifications and standards.
- To carry our first and second fix works and associated building works to specification as instructed either individually or as part of a team
- To work in accordance with the information, instruction and training given safely and efficiently and to inform mentor/management of any potential safety hazards not adequately controlled
- Complete timesheets and other relevant documentation to the satisfaction of your line manager
- Use only authorised equipment provided following all relevant Health and Safety guidance
- Work as part of a team and use materials safely and correctly
- Load and unload materials and equipment as directed
- Work flexibly across all areas of property services
- Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, customers and managers to ensure the effectiveness of the property services department
- Be aware of risk assessments and method statements relating to own area of work taking into account other people’s health and wellbeing
- Take part in the apprentice review process and complete any training required
- Follow Health and Safety policy and procedures including the wearing of personal protective equipment
- Undertake health and safety training as required
- Manage Health & Safety issues in your area of work in line with THTs Health and Safety Policy
- Comply with group confidentiality and information security policies at all times
Your duties may vary from time to time within the broad remit of your role and grade. You are required to undertake any such reasonable and appropriate duties
Duties and learning will involve:-
- Health and Safety
- Principles of Building
- Carry out First Fix – Roofing and Flooring
- Carry out First fixing Frames and Partitions
- Carry out Second Fixing Operations
- Carry out Carpentry Maintenance
- Set up and Operate Circular Saw
- Maintain and use Carpentry and Joinery Hand Tools
- Prepare and use Carpentry and Joinery Power Tools
- Produce woodworking Joints
- The learner will also produce a portfolio of evidence from site to cover the following competencies.
- Conform to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
- Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
- Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
- Installing First Fixing Components in the Workplace
- Installing Second Fixing Components in the Workplace
- Erecting Structural Carcassing components in the workplace (this unit can be substituted if the employer does not do roofing or joists)
