If you’ve left school or college and are looking to take your next step into an apprenticeship or the world of work, then a traineeship could be just perfect for you.
Traineeships are a great way to build your CV, especially if you don’t have much experience in the area that you want to work in. They can help you to get your dream job or the ideal apprenticeship by giving you the right skills that employers are looking for.
If you’ve ever wondered what a traineeship is, what you do on one or how to find one, then we’ve got all the answers.
What is a traineeship?
A traineeship is a short programme for 16 to 24 year olds (25 if you have an education, health and care plan) which helps you to learn the essential skills that every employer wants.
They’re really flexible and can fit around your needs to make sure you’re getting the right level and the right amount of learning.
They last anywhere between six weeks and 12 months, and are created with employers so you know you’ll be learning the skills that matter the most.
What will I be doing on a traineeship?
Traineeships are a mix of work experience and study. This means you’ll get to see what it’s like to be in a workplace while developing your knowledge and abilities.
Not only that but you’ll also be helped to improve your English, maths and digital skills at the same time AND learn how to write a CV and prepare for an interview. All of this will help you to stand out from the crowd and impress employers when it comes to applying for an apprenticeship or a job.
There may be a job for you once you’ve finished your programme, so you might be asked for an interview. Even if there isn’t, you’ll still get an exit interview with written feedback so you can discuss what you’ve learned and add it as a reference to your CV.
Remember, we’re always here to help you whether you want to move into an apprenticeship or a job.
How much does it cost?
The great thing about traineeships is that they’ll cost you nothing! They are fully funded by the government so you won’t have to pay a penny to get some great experience for your CV.
