What is the apprenticeship levy?

The way apprenticeships are funded in the UK is set to be amended in April 2017 with the introduction of a 0.5% levy on employer’s pay bills. If passed this levy will only be payable on pay bills in excess of £3 million per year, which is estimated to effect only 2% of employers. This is estimated to provide an estimated £3bn boost to the apprenticeships budget supporting a new wave of young learners. As part of this new plan, employers will also be given an annual offset allowance of £15,000 towards the cost of the new levy.

What is it like working with an Apprentice?


Back in August, Total People had a vacancy for an Accounts Apprentice who would be responsible for various tasks including Invoices, Expenses, Analysing the credit card statement and Grants to name a few.

Ofsted ask for views every year to help them build up a picture of how well the provider meets learners’ needs and how well it supports them to progress.

Ofsted Inspectors will look at all the information parents and carers give them about the provider and use it during their next inspection.

The Apprenticeship Levy Is Coming, Are You Ready?

In the 2015 Autumn Budget, the Chancellor announced the introduction of a new levy on all large UK employers to fund Apprenticeships. The levy underpins the Government’s Apprenticeship reform programme and its commitment to achieving 3 million Apprenticeship starts by 2020 – a 35% increase in the Apprenticeships delivered in the last Parliament. The levy is intended to provide the funding and incentives to help deliver this commitment.

The levy will support all post-16 Apprenticeships in England. It will provide funding that each employer can use to meet their individual needs. The funding will be directly controlled by employers via the digital Apprenticeships voucher, and firms that are committed to training will be able to get back more than they put in.
