The Level 3 apprentice refrigeration engineer explains his apprenticeship journey so far.
We spoke to Total People apprentice Jack, an apprentice refrigeration engineer, about his Level 3
Diploma in Installing and Maintaining Refrigeration Systems and his career ambitions.
I knew that they were a well rated company with positive reviews from my friends and family.
I work at Sodexo/AstraZeneca in Macclesfield where I diagnose and repair faults, and I maintain various refrigeration equipment including cold rooms, chillers etc.
I’m learning many general construction, fault finding, electrical and refrigeration knowledge.
Throughout my apprenticeship, I have been given various aspects of training, such as manual handling, in order to build skills within the construction industry. I’m learning more day by day to boost my knowledge around refrigeration.
My tutors Adam and Paul are always available and happy to help with any matter, such as ensuring the correct PPE is provided at work. They have always been there to provide good advice and point me in the right direction thanks to their industry experience.
My career goals are to start my own refrigeration company in my local area and to expand.
I would recommend an apprenticeship in this area as you would not be able to gain enough experience from just studying as things can always be different in a practical scenario.
I would also say to make sure you build a basic knowledge of what you are applying for before an interview to show that you have put the effort in.
