Apprenticeship Journey – Cheshire Constabulary

We are pleased to share the experience of two apprentices and their journey as a Business Administration and IT apprentice with Cheshire Constabulary.

I have found the apprenticeship scheme to be a brilliant opportunity to gain as much knowledge and experience as I could fit into twelve months. As part of this, I have really enjoyed spending time with units all over the organisation in order to learn about what they do and how they fit into the force.

The program has helped me develop my confidence hugely which has been really beneficial in helping me secure employment as a Police Community Support Officer.

The support system from both Cheshire Constabulary and Total People has been great throughout in helping me develop a clear career pathway. Overall my time so far with Cheshire Constabulary has been extremely eye-opening but a great experience.

Before I came to Cheshire Constabulary, I was working as a kitchen assistant with no real career path. I found the job on the Total People website and had to apply for it. It was an opportunity that couldn’t be missed. The job has been an amazing experience and I now have a clear career path in IT thanks to the apprenticeship. The training that I got from Total People was a great asset that I was able to apply in my job role. At the end of my apprenticeship, I was able to secure myself a job with Cheshire Constabulary in the IT department.

I enjoyed the whole apprenticeship but there are a few standout moments for me. One of them is being involved in one of the biggest IT projects Cheshire Constabulary had ever undertaken. I was able to go all around Cheshire to all the police stations and assist with the preparation and handover of new equipment.

The apprenticeship has been an amazing experience that has given me a clear career path. I hope to continue onwards and upwards in IT with Cheshire Constabulary.
