Celebrating Isla Conway and her personal development award

Total People is proud to announce that Isla Conway, our Early Years apprentice at Playmates Day Nursery, is the latest recipient of our Personal Development Award.

Isla won the award, which is part of our commitment to recognise learners who make a positive impact not only through their studies but also within their wider community, for the key role she played in played in organising a charity fundraiser alongside completing her apprenticeship.

Isla was instrumental in organising and hosting a coffee morning fundraiser for Dougie Mac, a charity that provides essential care and support for families across the region. From helping to plan the event, to welcoming guests on the day, Isla’s actions ensured it was a warm, inclusive and successful fundraiser.

Isla also went one step further by baking homemade cakes for everyone attending. Her willingness to take on extra responsibility and contribute creatively helped create a welcoming atmosphere and ensured the event ran smoothly.

This is a fantastic example of how apprentices can use their skills and initiative beyond the workplace to support causes that truly matter to them.

A cause close to her heart

“I always try to support Dougie Mac because it’s a charity very close to my heart, and it has helped a member of my family when we needed it most.”

This personal connection makes Isla’s efforts even more meaningful. Her commitment reflects strong values, empathy and a real sense of community spirit, qualities that are just as important as technical skills in the early years sector.

Isla’s actions show how apprentices can make a difference both professionally and personally. Her contribution is a credit to her dedication, her employer and the supportive environment around her as she continues her apprenticeship journey.

Congratulations, Isla, and thank you for the impact you’re making.
