Apprenticeships General News Technical Trades Case Studies

After leaving school with GCSE’s at grades B-C, Thomas decided to go enrol at his local college and start a joinery course.

Thomas’s tutors noticed his enthusiasm for Joinery early on and encouraged him to apply for Apprenticeships locally, but after numerous applications he was still struggling to gain a position.

Total People met with Thomas at his college to discuss his options, and arranged an interview and trial for him at Cheshire Joinery Services, after attending, he was made successful.

“A typical day for me involves studying the job, then chopping and machining the wood to size. After I then machine the product to all the specifications until the manufacturing is complete.”

“I really enjoy doing my apprenticeship, every minute of it! I look back to when I first started and where I am now, it fills me with such pride and confidence it is all worth the hard work.”

Thomas is still very passionate about Joinery, and looks forward to carrying on with Cheshire Joinery for as long as he can.
