Wanting to learn a trade he could be proud of was what first attracted Christopher McGill to his Mechanical Electrical Engineer apprenticeship at Total People.

The First Bus Level 2 apprentice spends his days completing inspections, services, diagnosis and repairs, while also working on time management and effective planning skills.

Chris said:

It was important to me to learn something new every day and face exciting challenges. At first it was sometimes overwhelming but now I feel more confident and I know I can complete tasks or at have a good go at them.

Chris said the support he received from Total People has been helpful to his progress.

He said: “My personal tutor keeps me well informed with the progress I’m making. I’m set exciting challenges and my tutor is easily contactable and helps me with any queries that I have. The online learning and software has been incredible and I’m proud of my test scores. I’ve also learned so much from the practical work that simply can’t be learned from a book”.

Chris admits he is excited for the future and said: “I hope to be a valued and respected employee, who is trusted to carry out jobs and tasks without supervision. Perhaps one day I’ll be able to teach apprentices myself.”
