Award Spotlight: Nicola Recognised for Personal Development Excellence

Apprenticeships General News News

We’re delighted to shine the spotlight on Nicola, who has recently been awarded a Personal Development Award in recognition of her commitment to learning and continuous improvement.

Nicola set herself a clear goal: to build her confidence and understanding of British Values and make sure they were meaningfully embedded into her day-to-day work. After recognising this as an area for development during a review, she took proactive steps to deepen her knowledge and reflect on how these values influence professional practice.

To support her learning, Nicola created a British Values poster outlining key principles such as democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect. She didn’t stop there – by displaying the poster in both her home office and workplace, Nicola ensured the values stayed visible and front of mind, not just for herself, but for her colleagues too.

This thoughtful approach helped Nicola grow in confidence when discussing British Values and strengthened her understanding of how they should be woven into everything from communication and decision-making to creating an inclusive and respectful working environment. She also explored the importance of Prevent, reinforcing the balance between tolerance and safeguarding in the workplace.

Nicola’s work is a fantastic example of how small, practical actions can have a big impact. Her dedication to personal development and her willingness to reflect and improve truly stood out – making her a very deserving winner of the award.

Congratulations, Nicola – a brilliant achievement and one worth celebrating!
