Rachel Lawson is sat at her office desk and holding her 'Apprentice of the Month' certificate while smiling at the camera.

At Total People, we’re proud to celebrate apprentices who go above and beyond in their learning and in the workplace.

And this month, we’re recognising Rachel Lawson for her commitment, resilience, and passion for safeguarding.

A commitment to learning, no matter the challenge

Rachel is currently completing a Level 3 Safeguarding Support Officer apprenticeship while working as an HR Officer in a fast-paced production environment.

From the very start, Rachel has shown real dedication to her learning. Despite being the only learner outside of the early years sector, Rachel has fully engaged in every webinar session, contributing to discussions and bringing valuable insights from an HR perspective.

Her approach is simple but powerful; show up and make the most of every opportunity.

Turning challenges into motivation

Over the past year, Rachel has faced significant personal challenges, including a serious health diagnosis and ongoing medical monitoring.

Despite this, she has remained committed to her apprenticeship, continuing to attend sessions, submit work and stay focused on her goals. For Rachel, learning hasn’t just been about gaining knowledge, it has provided structure, purpose and a positive focus during a difficult time.

Her determination and resilience are what have set her apart.

A passion for safeguarding

Through her apprenticeship, Rachel has discovered a clear passion for safeguarding and has ambitions to move into a dedicated safeguarding role in the future.

She has consistently demonstrated her ability to link learning to real-life situations, contributing thoughtful insights and showing a genuine commitment to protecting others.

Outside of work, Rachel also supports charity work that raises awareness of cardiac risk in young people, reflecting her strong commitment to the wellbeing of others.

A role model for apprentices and employers alike

Rachel’s story is a powerful example of what apprenticeships can achieve. With the right support and opportunities, individuals can build skills, stay motivated and continue progressing, even during challenging times.

For employers, it’s a reminder of the value apprentices can bring to your organisation. Apprentices like Rachel grow and strengthen your team in meaningful ways.

At Total People, we work with employers to develop tailored apprenticeship programmes that support both the individual and the business, helping you build a skilled, committed workforce.
