If you’re a good communicator and you like the idea of making shopping more enjoyable for people, a career in Retail would be perfect for you.

During the Apprenticeship you will cover areas such as:

  • Work effectively in a Retail team
  • Organising the receipt and storage of stock
  • Displaying and merchandising stock
  • Promoting loyalty schemes to customers
  • Processing payments

The Retail Apprenticeship frameworks at Levels 2 and 3 are designed to provide apprentices with the knowledge, skills and understanding they require to carry out their job role and to support their future progression within the sector.

Intermediate Level 2 Apprentices will train as

  • Sales Assistants
  • Customer Service Assistants
  • Stockroom Assistants
  • Beauty Consultants

Advanced Level 3 Apprentices will train as

  • Senior specialist
  • Senior Sales Assistants
  • Visual Merchandise Supervisors
  • Team Leaders
  • Department or Store Managers

You do not always need academic qualifications to start training working in a Retail environment. However, some employers may prefer you to have a good standard of general Education such as GCSEs, including English and Maths.

Typical qualities employers look for include:

  • Team worker
  • Good people skills
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Able to follow instructions

Progression:

On completion of the Apprenticeship there may be the opportunity to progress onto other qualifications for example:

  • Customer Service
  • Marketing
  • Business Administration
  • Team Leading
  • Management
