About the apprenticeship
We require a Laboratory Office Administrator Apprentice to join our busy veterinary diagnostic laboratory office providing services to vets, hospitals and animal breeders to help in breeding genetically healthy animals. Customer service, sorting samples, data entry and office duties.

The duties to include:
- Telephone and e-mail contact with customers including dog breeders, veterinary surgeons and hospitals
- Sorting samples received in the office
- Data entry of sample information
- Data inputting
- Despatch of samples to other partner laboratories
- Stock control and ordering of laboratory and office supplies
- Preparation of workload statistics from our data system - Maintaining information database
- General office duties
- Preparing bundles of documents
- Attending meetings and taking notes
- Taking and making calls
- Proof reading documents
- Assisting other staff with work
- Producing letters to clients or other third parties
- Opening and checking post daily
- Attending shows and events such as Crufts
- Assisting in preparing outgoing post for the day
- Undertaking development courses arranged
- Preparing and planning meeting agendas on instructions
- Producing and responding to emails
- There may be other duties undertaken by candidates not listed above from time to time as is the nature of the business
- However most work will be office based administration and thus the ideal candidate must show interest in working in this business
Apprenticeship qualification and training
Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standard, which includes:
- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
- End-Point Assessment (EPA)
