My Total People Experience by Melissa Hillard

“I started at Total People in September 2016 and was what I would call your typical teenager, who just wanted to get through college and come out at the end with a job and some qualifications. I thought that it was just going to be like school with “naggy” teachers and big classes with teenagers acting like children, but Total People is completely different; the classes are smaller, the learners act like grownups and the tutors are supportive and understanding.

Throughout my time at Total People my whole mindset has changed through the influences of some of the wonderful people who I have worked with, from my peeps to my tutor Sarah- Jane. I have learnt that it is not all about getting through and making do with what you get, it is about working hard for what you want and one day you will have it if you put your mind to it.

My idea for the mood board came from Sarah-Jane, my childcare trainer. We learnt about making our dreams and goals come true if we work hard enough for it in training. I decided that I would bring the idea home with me because I am a visual learner and by seeing my dreams and goals pictures everyday it is making it become a reality. This has helped me so much because it has made me want to work harder so I can achieve my goals.

I believe that you can have anything you want in this life if you want it hard enough.  I have learnt that the end product will be great but so will all the stepping-stones in between that make us who we are. Thanks for listening to my story.”
