Total People apprentice Matt Bullman enjoyed work placements with a number of high profile construction companies, such as Mace, Purcell and Faithfull and Gould, as part of the M Futures programme.
He said: “I originally heard of the M Futures programme while searching for a job after I had finished two years at college. I wanted to get out there and work, but also have the opportunity to learn and gain a qualification while doing so.
I’ve learned so much since starting the apprenticeship scheme, developing a range of skills that are going to help me in the future and overall, it’s been a fantastic opportunity to learn while working.
“Learning with Total People has been great. The tutors have been extremely helpful and willing to put in a lot of effort to ensure that we achieve the grades we wanted from the course.
“I currently have a place at the University of Salford to study architecture in September 2020, a decision that I made after experiencing what it was like working in the architecture discipline. I am aiming to become an architect in the future and the scheme allowed me to have the confidence to go to university with a career goal in mind.
“I would definitely recommend the scheme to anyone looking for a more hands-on approach to learning, the scheme is great for those that enjoy learning while working.”
Total People apprentice Kasim Ali also enjoyed his time on the M Futures programme as a way of starting his career in construction.
This qualification has given me a good insight into construction and it has been a good base from which I have expanded my knowledge and skills which I have been able to implement into my daily work.
“I’ve learned quite a lot which I am sure gives me a good footing to start my career in construction. I want to secure a position in a construction company and I’m happy to start at the bottom and show my worth to any new perspective employers.
“I’d happily recommend Total People to others as any opportunities to gain experience, skills and qualifications is great and you also get a good wage.”
