Scaffolder Apprenticeship

If you’re looking to start a career as a Scaffolder, this apprenticeship will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge to succeed. You’ll learn about health and safety, equipment handling, regulations, and methods of assembly.

The programme combines face-to-face learning, online assessments, self-study, practical training, and one-on-one coaching at our Wythenshawe training centre. By the end of the apprenticeship, you’ll have the expertise to work safely and effectively in the scaffolding industry.

Topics, units and assessments

As part of the apprenticeship you will learn about:

  • Health & Safety, regulations and codes of practice
  • Equipment – tube and fittings
  • Boards and stock
  • Electrical Safety
  • Noise and vibration
  • Working at Height
  • Manual Handling
  • Various types of scaffold and scaffold inspection.

Assessment activities will include:

  • A knowledge test
  • Practical test of knowledge, skills and behaviours in our Manchester training facility.

Study location and how you’ll learn

The programme of study will cover a range of units, from health and Safety, equipment handling, regulations and methods of assembly. This will be delivered through a mix of face-to-face learning, remote reviews, online assessments, self-study, practical skills training and one to one coaching facilitated at our training centre in Wythenshawe.

  • Surveyor

    Surveying in the scaffolding industry involves assessing sites and ensuring that scaffolding structures are safe, compliant with regulations, and properly designed for the intended purpose. 

  • Gang Supervisor

    Gang supervisors are responsible for overseeing a team of scaffolders on-site, ensuring that the scaffolding is erected and dismantled according to plan and safely. 

  • Scaffold Inspector

    Scaffold inspectors are responsible for ensuring the safety, stability on construction sites. Their role is critical to ensure that the scaffolding also meets industry regulations.

  • Scaffold Design

    Scaffold design involves planning and creating scaffolding systems tailored to specific construction projects. Designers develop safe, stable, and efficient scaffolding solutions ofr construction sites.

  • Enhance Workplace Safety and Compliance

    Apprentices receive up-to-date training on industry safety regulations, risk assessments, and compliance, helping to maintain a safe working environment.
