CISRS COTS Courses
The CISRS COTS (CISRS Operative Training Scheme) is a one-day course aimed at providing New Entrant Trainees and Scaffolding Labourers with an understanding of relevant health and safety regulations. The course focuses on current construction and scaffold access-related safety requirements, as well as safe working practices.
Eligibility
To attend the CISRS COTS course, participants must have passed a CITB Health, Safety & Environment test within two years prior to the course or hold a CISRS-accepted exemption. This ensures attendees have a foundational understanding of health and safety prior to the course.
Course Content
- The course covers a wide range of health and safety topics, including:
- General responsibilities, relevant regulations, and codes of practice.
- Basic scaffold terminology and equipment servicing.
- Health, welfare, hygiene, and housekeeping practices.
- Safety considerations such as electrical safety, fire prevention, working at height, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Accident prevention, manual handling (with a practical element), and lifting equipment.
- Participants are tested through an end-of-course test paper.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a CISRS certificate. The training centre will also apply for a CISRS Scaffolding Labourer card on behalf of the participant, validating their completion of the course and eligibility to work in this role.
