Total People apprentices make the grade at the University of Manchester.

Total People apprentices at the University of Manchester enjoyed a celebration event after gaining Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Hospitality and Catering.

The learners, who are all employed by the university’s catering department, enjoyed a special celebration complete with academic scrolls after passing their courses.

As part of the Ambitious Futures scheme, the apprentices made time to study while working at a number of different campuses. They were also the first Total People catering apprentices to undertake the new End Point Assessments.

Jeanine Reed, Departmental Team Leader at Total People, said: “Our learners gained either a Level 2 Hospitality Team Member or a Level 3 Hospitality Supervisor, which is a great achievement that will have a positive impact on their individual roles at the university.”

Julie O’Neill, catering supervisor at University of Manchester – Distinction Level 3, said:

Gaining my Level 3 is marvellous because at my age, I never thought I’d enjoy it so much and actually do well.

"It’s a big achievement because I’ve been out of the school system for a long time, which was a bit daunting, but I’m so glad that I’ve done it.”

Nick Osbourne, Level 2, said: “Total People have really helped and they’ve given me more confidence and help with skills that I can use on a daily basis.”
