Molly Sehné has been shortlisted as a finalist for Apprentice of the Year at the 2017 South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Awards.

My name is Molly Sehné, I am 20 years old and I am currently in the process of completing my Edexcel Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Marketing through Total People.

After I finished Sixth Form I decided to enter the world of work rather than going on to university, however, having looked at temporary posts, I soon realised that there were few jobs that excited me. A chance opportunity to take up a customer service apprenticeship with a local logistics company was to whet my appetite for a career in the transport sector. On completion of my customer service apprenticeship, I was made redundant, as the business was struggling; however, this gave me the opportunity to explore the option of a further apprenticeship.

Having discussed my thoughts with my training adviser at Total People, she supported me in the search for a marketing role, as I had enjoyed significant experience of this within my first apprenticeship. This is when I came across the vacancy at Transport Service Solutions (TSS) for a Marketing and Publicity apprentice.

My logistics background and passion for a marketing post ensured that I was in a good position to be successful in acquiring this new role. Having a sound understanding of and appreciation for the need for excellent customer service, I have been able to build good working relationships with both colleagues and clients whilst developing my marketing and publicity skills.

TSS has expertise in managing passenger transport contracts on behalf of Cheshire East Council, including home to school transport. In addition, TSS arranges private transport and contract management for schools, businesses and organisations.  With expert knowledge of connecting people and places, TSS specialises in providing high-quality services that are tailored to best meet our customers’ needs.

Our experienced, dedicated team of transport professionals research, plan and deliver safe, competitively priced transport solutions for any number of people and offers ongoing management, leaving customers to get on with other things.

My role is primarily to assist the Marketing and Publicity Officer in the promotion of the Company’s statutory and business services through the development of marketing and communication activities. This includes raising the Company profile, helping to improve customer relations, share information with pre-defined target markets and deliver promotional projects for a full range of transport provision and services.

I have been working for TSS for just over a year and throughout my time I have been involved with a variety of exciting projects and have been exposed to some fantastic opportunities which have given me the confidence to take on more responsibility going forward in my apprenticeship. I am looking forward to developing my career within TSS and am excited to see what opportunities are around the corner for me.

I was really honoured to have been nominated for the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Business Awards for the Apprentice of the Year.  Being acknowledged for my hard work and commitment throughout my apprenticeship with TSS is a huge achievement and I was really excited to have been a finalist for the award. I am really looking forward to developing my career and marketing understanding further to ensure that I am in a promising position to build a sound marketing career in the future.

My next steps are to now complete my Level 2 Diploma in Marketing and move on to study for my Level 3 – this will deepen my knowledge on the concept of marketing and help me have a better understanding of how best to focus our efforts to promote TSS. I also want to promote apprenticeships to people in the local area and the benefits they can have to building a solid career foundation.

Everyone at Total People would like to extend our congratulations to Molly, it is brilliant that her consistent hard-work and dedication has been recognised!
