About the apprenticeship
The core apprenticeship job role will include maintaining and repairing of:
- Air braking systems
- Engine mechanical
- Suspension
- Electrical
- Steering
- Trailers
- Finding and fixing faults
- Carrying out repairs and replacing damaged parts
- Complete vehicle servicing
- Making sure selected vehicles are MOT compliant
- Usage of hand tools
- Fitting new parts
This employer will provide a varied apprenticeship supported by very experienced and supportive motor vehicle engineers and a comprehensive apprenticeship programme including weekly block release training at the Manchester College Group campus at Openshaw initially, then in the new year Wythenshawe. There will be six block sessions each year.

Only candidates with a genuine drive to do well, learn and listen may apply. It is vitally important that the time given by the employer workforce is rewarded by excellent time keeping and willingness to complete all required apprenticeship off site training. Whereas experience would be an advantage, candidates with no experience with the right attitude and application will be considered.
The starting hourly pay rate will be the National Minimum Wage for age.
Apprenticeship qualification and training
Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician apprenticeship standard, which includes:
- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
- End-Point Assessment (EPA)
