Continual Learning - Caring for Children Study Programme

Caring for Children Study Programme learners recently visited the National Forest Adventure Farm.

Last month two of our Childcare Training Advisers, Faye Taylor and Zoe Coffen, took their Burton Level 1 Caring for Children Study Programme learners on a trip to the National Forest Adventure Farm.  The trip provided a brilliant opportunity for the learners to expand their knowledge through continual learning in a different, varied environment.

The learners were set a task to research places of interest and suitable venues to support children’s play and leisure opportunities as part of one of their Diploma tasks.  This also fed perfectly into the working as part of a group unit from their Certificate in Personal and Social Development.

The learners were given a number of options and unanimously decided that they would like to visit the Adventure Farm, since many of them had ever been to a farm before or experienced a variety of animals in such close quarters.  It was a fantastic opportunity for them to get up close and personal with the animals and learn more about these fascinating creatures and their setting.  The learners took part in the planning of the trip, from start to finish, and had a fantastic time (the tutors did too!) while improving their skills and knowledge.

The learners were a pleasure to take out and I think the smiles on their faces in the pictures say it all! Throughout the whole day, we made numerous links to the qualification, recapped on knowledge and considered how each aspect of the day could promote learning and development.  A thoroughly great day was had by all.
