Overview
Maximus Chillers Ltd are looking for an Apprentice Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Engineering Technician to join their team. You will work towards a Level 3 Apprentice Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard.
About the apprenticeship
The successful candidate will spend the time until you have obtained/or have a driving licence learning the role with the business owner., working in the field until competent a company car will be available.

The job involves learning how to provide the highest level of service, maintenance and repairs to large industrial cooling systems called chillers. These machines are at the top of the cooling industry. The job can be very easy some days, but others can be very demanding and stressful.
Also, the job includes heavy lifting and carrying also working part of the time outside in various weather conditions.
The job tasks can be summarised as including most of the following:
- Three-year apprenticeship in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration including day release from June in Wythenshawe
- Learning to install, maintain and repair industrial and commercial refrigerated equipment from walk-in freezers to multiple air conditioning systems, chillers, and Air Handling Units
- You will learn multiple interchangeable skills from pipe fitting, mechanical skills, electrics, fault finding and customer interaction
The role will be based initially on thirty hours a week contract with extra hours as requested, however, the likelihood is that after an introductory bedding in period longer hours and a higher rate of pay will be given or on offer.
Apprenticeship qualification and training
Level 3 Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, which includes:
- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
- End-Point Assessment (EPA)
- Day release in Wythenshawe from May/June
